I have come a long way so far and so close to completing my goal! Counting down to my 30th birthday where I want to start the next decade happy and healthy! Please feel free to add comments! They can be words of encouragement, helpful tips or a little banter like "hey, that snickers bar isn't going to help you to your goal"!! This blog is really for me but support is always welcome and if I can inspire someone else to get off the couch and get healthy then that is great! I know first hand how fast the pounds can creep up on you and how hard it is to first decide to make a change, find a routine that works, commit to it and accomplish it! Friday, Friday, Friday!!

Only 2 more Fridays until the big 30! My emotions about the day have been up and down. We just booked our hut (room) whatever it is on Mt Fuji on the 29th. We will climb a little more then half way I think stay in the hut for a few hours until about 2 am when we will continue up Fuji in the dark to get to the top for sunrise on my Birthday! I am really excited about this. Over the last couple weeks we have been working out the plans/details. We just need to pick up a few little things this weekend and besides snacks we are all set! I think I will probably hit up a base friend to help me get some good snacks the week of! :o)

I have a crazy busy 1 1/2 leading up to my birthday! I think I have 9-10 photoshoots! Hopefully I will be able to get my workouts in! However shooting in this weather is by far a workout in it self. Yesterday I had 2 shoots back to back as well as ran 10 miles before that! I had weighed myself in the morning and by the time I got back from the shoot I had lost just over 4 pounds!! Holy moly! That was mostly water weight so this morning much of that is back!

This week I only lost .5 pounds. I have been slacking on keeping track of my in/outs. But Ill will start back up today. I really want to achieve my goal and at the end of the week I want to be able to look back and not say hmmm I wonder why I only lost .5 pounds. I do however somewhat think that it's not getting to those last 10 pounds which everyone claims to be the absolute hardest to lose. I don't know that I can lose another 6.5 pounds before the 30th. Steve says that you will lose about 5 pounds climbing up. Soooo maybe I only need to lose 1.5! lol I have been starting to feel really great. Even though the main areas I am measuring are not going down all that much I am for sure noticing a difference in other areas! I think at this point the only thing I am really hating are my arms still.  Everything just needs to be toned up. And I think this will take longer then 2 weeks and I am okay with that. At least I have gotten my weight down to where I want it and am feeling pretty good!!

2nd week of August is Obon week! We will be heading down to Izu Peninsula (not too far away) with a work friend of Steves. There is nice white sand beaches there I guess and we will apparently be learning to surf. Or at least Steve will! It sounds really fun but I am so afraid of what is lurking in the waters. Sorry but I have seen a lifetimes worth of Jelly fish in the waters here as well as many different things in the grocery stores that I am afraid to go in the water here. I may just be sitting on the beach taking photos instead and working on a tan! lol I would love to get up enough courage to get out there so we will see. :o) Anywho... I have a little less then a month before I will be in a bikini!!! Wish me luck!

Friday July 9th

This past Sunday I ran my first 16 miles! It was awesome. I felt great! I still can't believe that I did the full 16 without any walking! It was great to accomplish as it really made me feel like I will really be able to get to 26.2! The marathon my friend Amanda and I will be doing is still not decided. Hoping for the weekend of December 5th. Could be Vegas could be Memphis it's still up in the air. But I think I will for sure be ready! I have 160 miles planned for the month of July! So far so good. I don't go up in miles again until August when I do my first 18 mile run! That sounds SOOOO far lol! I hope that by then I will have a good idea about what pace I am working towards for the marathon. I think I would be happy completing my fist marathon under 4hrs 20 mins. I was hoping for under 4 hours but I don't know if I can be ready for that by December. Maybe I will shoot for that in 2011!

Otherwise not too bad of a week. My schedule was off quite a bit with Steve being out of town again. I couldn't seem to sleep very well through the night keeping me pretty tired through out the day. Did quite a bit of junk food snacking after receiving a care package from home. However I still managed to lose a pound! :o) I am getting so close to my goals yet some parts of me I am thinking it's going to take a little longer then expected.

I am a fan of Jillian Michaels as everyone pretty much knows. This week I will be jumping up a level in my workouts with her. Still same amount of days just workouts should be a tougher which will be great. I have been feeling like these workouts I am currently on are a little too easy. It's game face time! I also just got some whey protein today! Which I plan on taking at least 5 days a week after each run. The most important thing I am looking for is the Amino Acids it provides. Amino acid helps to repair skin, bones and muscles! Hopefully this will help my muscles recovery quickly as well as help my skin and muscle to tone up getting rid of this sagging!


Today I spent the day with a new friend. We met a few months ago during a photoshoot and today was our first official outing! We had so much fun my cheeks hurt from laughing so much. She has the most adorable baby I have ever seen. Anyways... I went with her to base today and she had to make a quick stop to a derm doc. Before she went in her and I were discussing my arm situation. I was wondering how I would know whether what I have is fat on my arms or extra skin tissue. She asked the doctor and looks like what I have is still arm fat. Which surprisingly makes me more happy! lol At least I know if I keep working at it there is a better chance of toning them up!

Just realized I got off track about Jillian Michaels.. she has a product out called Fat Burner. Its apparently an all natural dietary supplement that will help me loss fat mass, release fat from mature fat cells. There are 56 tablets so it will last me about 2-3 weeks. So we will see if it does anything. Hopefully it will help some of these fat cells to move out quicker. I wasn't going to try any of these gimic fat burners but this one being natural extracts and by Jillian Michaels I trust it!

Hopefully these small changes over the next 2-3 weeks will help me shed the 6-8 pounds I am looking to shed by the 30th.

Honestly though while I am going to give it 110% if I can't quite get where I want to be by the 30th. It's okay! It's not like it stops here. I am still training for the marathon and going to continue a healthy way of living for the rest of my life. Feeling pretty amazing right now! :o)

I have got 7 more pounds, 1.5-2 inches around the waist, .5 around the hips, 2 inches around the belly and and couple inches around the thighs and arms to go! Seems like so little now compared to 10-12 inches I have already lost in some areas!


Lots going on over the next couple weeks with photoshoots I am going to work extra hard to complete all of my workouts and hopefully the shoots will just help the process! You would think it would be great for the arms carrying a 7 pound camera for a few hours! :o)

Friday!

I had a rather productive and busy week this week. Steve was out of town Monday-Wednesday didn't get home Wednesday until 11:30pm then had to stay late at work on Thursday for a meeting and didn't get home until 10:30pm. Normally I have a really hard time sleeping and keeping a good schedule for everything from work to eating and sleeping. But I did really well this week! I ate good I completed all of my work outs and all of my work! Even posted a few China pictures! He is unfortunately going back out of town Monday-Friday and then Thursday and Friday of the following week Geeeezzzzz... Not so happy about all that. Hopefully I can keep up the good work. And luckily he will be home on the weekends which do make it better.

This week I completed Jillian Michaels workouts Tuesday-Thursday as well as I have one to do later this afternoon. I had a photoshoot this morning so post is a little late. I also completed 33 miles since my last post! This weekend is going to be tough! My longest run yet 16 miles!!!!! I have been anticipating it for a couple weeks now. I am little nervous that I may not be able to complete it or that I will have stomach issues. I already know its going to be super tough! On the same day Steve maybe heading out for a 60 mile bike ride with a friend which is awesome! I am so proud of him!


So with 3 days or weight training, 33 miles and 2 photoshoots and eating right I had a pretty successful week! :o)

JULY!!! in 28 days I turn 30! Let the count down begin! I have 4 more weeks! I want to lose 8 pounds! Can it be done! I am not sure but I am sure going to try! It's only 2 pounds a week. I know I can do better then I did last month so I think I can get awfully close! We are climbing Mt Fuji on my birthday. Should I take my scale strip down to my skibbies on top of Fuji and weight in lol or I guess I could always weight my clothes before I leave. We will see what kind of creative thing I can come up with! :o)

Friday..

Well I am obviously no good at keeping up with this blog. Had a busy week with work and shoots and just could seem to find the time. I think it would be better if I posted weekly updates and maybe some blogs here and there when I have the time that way I won't feel like such a failure! lol

I thought I was doing pretty good this week, but I guess not.. I actually gained a little bit in weight and in measurements. So... a couple of things maybe I maintained but then gained a little muscle. I am actually feeling a little stronger this week. Noticing a difference especially in my upper body.  Also mother nature is about to grace me with her presence. I have never had such a close eye on my weight before so I don't know how much it fluctuates during that time to compare. How much can water weight really do to you? I definitely feeling a little mushy! lol  I don't know, Im not really sure what happened.  Hopefully once that has come and gone I will see a difference.

I have basically one more month about 35 days including today until my birthday! Need to really crack down I think if I am going to get there. This week I have a lot of miles to do! 33 miles before next weight in. And then my first 16 mile run on July 4th! I am excited and nervous about that one. The week after July 4th I will be moving up to the next level of Jillians. Also another thing that is going to help over the next 2 weeks is Steve is going out of town... While I hate when he is away I also eat better :o). He will be out of town 3 days next week and then 5 the following week. So hopefully I can shred about 4-5 pounds over the next 2 weeks! I have NEVER been good a dieting. Kinda feel like this is what that is so it's hard to really stay focused. Eating right, logging it and staying committed to it even though I want the results so bad it's still so hard! I feel myself starting to think and say "well if I don't get there by my birthday it's okay"... is that an excuse! Oh no!! lol I think keeping daily track for myself without blogging will help me. I don't think anyone really cares what I am eating everyday anyways! lol If you do please comment and I will try harder to post it, but other wise I think weekly updates will be better. For me if I can't take the time to blog then I also don't take the time to even enter the numbers. So one step at a time!! :o)

June 20th

In the morning I was excited to do my run, looking forward to pushing hard to get under a 10 mins pace for 13 miles! I was doing really well and then at 7 miles I started having some stomach issues. This has been happening and some consider it part of being a runner. So I made a pit stop got back on the road. Unfortunately that was not what it was, I struggled for the next 4 miles before I just decided to stop.
I felt pretty sick most of the afternoon. But by the evening whatever I had, had passed. So it was on to original plans! Go to Yokosuka to drop off a CD, and then on to Benny's. It's been a couple weeks since we have been out. We only had until 8:30 since it was the season finale for American Idol in Japan. And even though we knew who won we wanted to get back to watch it.  So with Benny's delicious Nachos, and a couple drinks I went over my calorie budget for the day. I still ended up burning as many calories as I took in. And it's fine. Not like it happens ALL the time! :o)

Feet!

So with another black toe on my right foot I decided maybe my newer shoes are too small. This is an extreme bummer since the shoes were pretty expensive. But continuing to run in them probably isn't a great idea. Maybe I can sell them! We went to the Nike store in Tokyo today to see what we could find. I tried on a few different shoes and ran on their treadmill in them! :o) I really love the Nike free shoes but I know that for long distance they will cause problems because of lack of cushion and stability. However I did read that they will develop the muscles in your foot which will in turn give you a more stable run as well as increase your speed! They were extremely comfortable and light weight! I may... MAY think about doing what the elites do and get a pair for my short recovery runs and speed training and use a pair of Stability/Cushion shoes for the long runs. We will see though.

One other important thing I learned today is I need 2 different size shoes. My last shoes 8.5 where perfect for my right foot but gave me blisters on my left. My new shoes size 8 are perfect for my left foot and black toe nails on my right foot. Which means I need to order custom Nike's.. Anyone looking to buy me a birthday present just send money towards the shoes! lol I NEED THEM!! haha but no seriously!

There is a new shoe coming out in just 4 days and I think they are the ones! At least I hope so. Hopefully we will be ordering a new pair this week.

At least the toe that is black is my 2nd toe not my big toe so its not too painful to run.
Today I did 6 miles and it was the best run I have had in weeks! It felt great! It rained just a touch during my run, which kept the air cool which for sure helped my breathing! I almost got my pace into the 8'00''s but ended up with a 9'01'' I think I could have pushed it a little harder in the beginning but I didn't want to hurt myself since I have 14 to do tomorrow. When I got back I had a little time to the Jillian Michaels work out I missed yesterday! It was a great workout, my arms are getting tired just typing this blog lol.

I have been working day and night all week. So it felt good to just take a day off, but Steve said I seemed out of it most of the day. I think the work load list in my head was still bogging me down.

Did well with calories today! Stayed in the budget. Had a little more sugar/carbs as I would have liked but happy to have kept the overall calories in check as well as sodium intake. I recently learned in order to really lose that last 10-15 you need to eat less then 1000mg of sodium a day. I honestly already retain quite a bit of water so I think less sodium should help that as well!

June 18th in/out

 Today I was on my computer most well ALL day processing photos, working on emails. Apparently computer work burns a lot of calories! lol 


I went just over in my allowance. Extra salad at lunch and the red bull is probably what did it! But good news is I posted! Day 1 of back in the game! This weekend is rain, rain, rain and more rain! Hopefully I will be able to do my 6 miles tomorrow and 14 on Sunday.

I'm Back!

Well, it didn't take me long to fall of the ban wagon for tracking food and blogging.. but didn't take me long to get back. I had a very busy week with photoshoots, processing photos, working out, running and  making time for Steve that by the time I could sit and log/blog I was just too tired. But I can find the time! So I am back starting today. Every Friday is weight in day! This week I felt like I did bad with food, we had Friday's one night, pizza another, I had ice cream and chips and popcorn oh my! lol

However I still managed to make some progress! Probably all the extra activity! I was also able to complete all of my workouts and miles! IF the rain can hold off for just a little bit this weekend early mornings I have another 20miles to do this weekend. Also this weekend we are heading to the Nike store in Tokyo. I want to see if they have the new Nike+ heart rate strap that connects to your nike runs and ipod.  Also I need to look at possibly a new pair of shoes. Which is an extreme bummer since I just got new ones. However they are too small. My toenail is barely even growing in yet and it's already black again. We are also going to go buy a new scale ours is super cheap and I just want to make sure the numbers are accurate.

Wow that's a lot of inches! :o) Can't believe that I was even more than this. I know once I got up to 209-210 I stopped weighting myself. So I could have easily gotten up to 220. I don't think it was ever more than that. And now I just hit 139!! Which means potentially could have lost about 75-80 pounds!

Its been getting harder and harder. The better I feel and the closer I get the more I just want to slow down. You would think it would be the other way around. And some days it is. Some days I feel really great and excited. Some days I look in the mirror and all I see is 200 pound girl. It's really weird that I know what size I am, I know how much I weight and yet I look in the mirror and don't see the change. And then there is other days I look in the mirror and see who I am now. I guess it just depends on the day. Sometimes I feel like I just have so much more to go. Do I?? I sometimes wonder how someone else sees me.. And I want to be healthier and I know I have more to go on that. I want to be able to run the marathon and in good time and so that's what keeps me going. Ill feel accomplished once I have met both my weight and health goals and can maintain them!

I know that I always sound happy to have completed miles and workouts and it probably seems like its so easy. But in reality it's not. Ill say it again with a little laugh in my voice "It's NOT!" lol
My muscles are sore and tired pretty much all day everyday. Sometimes it's hard to put on my running shoes because I just don't want to. It will be such a relief to finally get to where I am going so that I can do this stuff strictly to maintain and for FUN!! lol I know that it's worth it and I know that I can't take a break now. If I slow down or cut down then Ill lose the battle. It's like when I do a long run. It's easier for me to just keep going and no walking. If I walk then I know how much harder it is to start running again, and then I want to stop and take another break because it was so easy to just stop. So I just keep going. :o)

June 11th in/out

Well it was another beautiful day! Just got done having too much dinner AGAIN!! I didn't have too much else to eat today so I didn't go way over. Problem when we buy hamburger meat from Costco it comes in 1500gram packages, frozen, so we have to defrost and then eat something with hamburger 3 days in a row. So yesterday tacos and today cheese burgers with pineapple! mmmmm

Today was my day off of running, I got up early to get a little work done. Did my Jillian workout and headed to Yokosuka! Tomorrow I have 2 shoots, in Yokosuka again. That makes 4 within 3 days all at the same park! lol Tomorrow I also have a short run to do. And then Sunday is my big run! Considering missing my run in the AM to rest my legs for a full day to prepare for Sunday. But we will see how I feel in the morning! :o)
