I have come a long way so far and so close to completing my goal! Counting down to my 30th birthday where I want to start the next decade happy and healthy! Please feel free to add comments! They can be words of encouragement, helpful tips or a little banter like "hey, that snickers bar isn't going to help you to your goal"!! This blog is really for me but support is always welcome and if I can inspire someone else to get off the couch and get healthy then that is great! I know first hand how fast the pounds can creep up on you and how hard it is to first decide to make a change, find a routine that works, commit to it and accomplish it! Once I complete the goal it doesn't end there. It's time to get healthy and stay healthy!

Getting Started

Where to start! I am less than 2 months away from turning the big 30! For the last 4 to 5 years I have been dealing with some weight problems! Getting up to 210+ pounds! I have off and on been on training programs, diet programs, diet pills you name it I was trying it. I never really stuck with anything. Either I felt I was too busy or wasn't seeing results fast enough, got depressed or just simply lose interest. Moving to Japan gave me the opportunity to get away from all the distractions and really focus on ME!
We have been in Japan now for just over 2 years. It really wasn't until this February that I really figured out what it is I needed to do. Sure I had shed some pounds and was feeling pretty confident but this February I set out to really change! I have stuck with it now for going into the 5th month! I realized all I needed was a schedule and a commitment! I started a marathon program through Nike+ and made the commitment that no matter what, I had to complete every run! The month of May has taken it's toll on me from 2 toe injuries, knee injury and now my ankle. However it's not going to take me down! I am so close now that I can barely stand it.
Luckily along with the running 3 weeks ago I started a strength training program! And have decided until my ankle is ready to run I will be doing biking as well as other cardio activities on the same running days for the same length and intensity to keep up with my schedule so that I don't lose focus!

Now with the right fitness program in place to burn fat and tone muscle I need to work on my food habits! I would say I eat fairly healthy. Living in Japan gives me that luxury. There is not much temptation here. You don't drive past 10 fast food restaurants in a day, or walk down isles of grocery stores filled with all kinds of unhealthy food. We don't like Japanese food so most of what we eat I make at home. But there is still work to be done. There has got to be more that I can be doing.

So that is how the blog got started. I love logging my workouts because I feel like I am being held accountable. So why not do it with my food intake! Then I thought maybe I could log just exactly what I do in a day, what I eat, the workouts, daily activity so that I can keep better track, so that I will be successful in meeting my goals! I also want to start heading out more often to shoot the area. Since we will be heading back to the states in November. I want to take advantage of the time left and be sure and document all the amazing sites around us! Then I thought who cares about a blog that will go on just for a few months! So I thought hey why not blog my year of 30!

It's one thing to make a commitment to lose weight, follow through with it and achieve it but then the important thing will be to keep up with it! If I can keep up with it for 1 year I know that I can for the rest of my life!

Also, for the next year so much will be going on from moving back to the states, starting up business there, buying a house, hopefully running a marathon, some US exploration and hopefully becoming pregnant!

I always have a lot on my mind so this will be like an online diary for me! Anyone who cares can read it and anyone who doesn't that's okay! It's really for me to keep track of somethings and somewhere for me to "connect" with myself! Who knows what Ill post but I am already excited!!

30 here I come!!
