Tomorrow if there is time I also want to do some research on Sugar! After yesterday's McDonalds milk shake I was talking to Steve about it, and then we wondered how much Sugar was in a Coke. He is a huge fan of coke. He has been trying to cut back forever now but he is addicted. In one can of Coke there are 140 calories and a whopping 39g of sugar. 39g or sugar is more then my daily allowance. He has about 1500 ml a day (today he cut it down to 800) Anyways 1500 ml is about 4.5 cans. Which is 592 calories, and 164g of sugar! WoW.. and he has this everyday. Man I kinda wish I had something like this in my diet that I could just cut out and have 600 extra calories to eat in good food! :o) It's insanely unhealthy to eat this much sugar in a day. The very first time I gained weight I got up to almost 170#s and went down to 130#s or somewhere in there maybe even less. When I had gained so much weight the first time from 112pounds to 170 pounds it was surely about pop! I was drinking on average 10 cokes a day. I would have 1 on the way to work, 1 when I got to work, 2 at lunch, 1 in the afternoon, 1 on the way home from work, and at least 4 more throughout the evening. 10 cokes is 1510 calories in 1 day- all in pop. Its also 400g of sugar. This times 7 I was drinking over 10,000 calories a week. And consuming 2800g of sugar a week, only in pop. 10,000 extra calories is almost 3 pounds a week. And this was just pop. I had worked in retail so every night that I closed the store I would go through McDonalds. Big Mac, fries and chicken nuggets every time. Probably did this 3 times a week.
I had started taking exendrine with ephedra! Greatest stuff for losing weight. They don't sell it anymore and I am glad they don't. That way of losing weight is wrong. It's not healthy and it teaches you nothing! That is why I fell right back into my old ways along with other extremely bad habits like drinking every weekend and eating tons of fried food which resulted in getting up to 210 pounds. Anyways... I was really talking about pop. Tomorrow I am going to hopefully have a new post about sugar! I hope that for the sake of my husbands health we can finally get him down to only 1 a day or at least switch to diet.
So here are my numbers for the day!!

Wow! that is a lot of coke... I'm a huge health nut and never been a soda drinker... I have always heard if you cut soda out of your diet it's crazy how many calories you are saving.
ReplyDeleteYour doing great... I was reading my Woman's Health Mag and you should send your story in... so inspiring!
Thanks Jina! Sometimes I feel kinda silly about it because I should have never allowed myself to get like that. I think people who stay fit and healthy their entire lives are more inspiring.
ReplyDeletewow scary how coke can be so high in calorie... I love coke I am totally addicted... now I drink coke zero and lots of people tell me it's just not the same and ask me how I tolerate the taste. Yea, it's different but now I am used to it. I don't have much choice do I?
ReplyDeleteOnce you get used to diet/zero, regular coke is nasty! It's worth the switch over if you continue to drink soda.
